Outside Looking In: Untold Stories of People Experiencing Homelessness

Homelessness and the Housing Crisis

2020

Annenberg Community Beach House // Santa Monica, CA

We hold many preconceived notions about what it means to be without a home; at the forefront is the stereotype of the unkempt, dangerous, single male. However, this stereotypes obscures the remarkable array of people experiencing homelessness throughout Los Angeles, including families, women, children, and youth. This exhibition is an intimate examination and contemplation of the lives of our neighbors: families, women, children and youth surviving in our city while unhoused or with only temporary shelter.

I curated this show along with photographer Jasmine Monet Davis, as well as contributed 6 hand-painted infographics of data from the LAHSA 2019 Homeless Count.
