Emma Thorne-Christy is an exhibition designer and activist artist based in Los Angeles, California. With a B.A. in American Studies, an M.F.A. in Museum Exhibition Design, and a previous career in community organizing, Emma aims to inspire civic engagement and spur real societal change through her work. She believes that every person has a story to tell, and that these stories have the power to transform our culture.

Emma is an organizer with Free the Museum Project, an initiative to activate the “museum experience” in the world around us. In addition to her design practice, she writes and speaks regularly to museum professionals and students about museums, design and activism. Her article for Museum Next in May of 2020, "In Defense of the Physical Exhibition: A plea not to 'move' exhibitions online" went viral in the wake of the closing of museums worldwide in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
